Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive during booking confirmation or upon vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Bootle, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions can vary by vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A full, valid driving license for the appropriate vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of your current address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided. Please review the Rental Agreement for any additional requirements.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Bootle location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions handled securely through established payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage to our staff without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and both parties will sign it to confirm the vehicle's state. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as when it was collected, with allowance for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level; if it is returned with less fuel, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may result in extra fees, so we ask that you contact us promptly if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, plus an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless covered by extra insurance. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of any insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice given. Please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement for the exact terms that apply. Late cancellations or failure to appear may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky behaviors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving beyond agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Bootle is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of their courts.
10. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Your ongoing use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
